Bankywood being in the heart of the village one can walk to the local
XIVth Century Inn which is renowned for its restaurant. Walks along the
banks of the River Rother and in the surrounding woods are all on your
door step. Fishing is available on a daily licence. Bankywood with its
warm hospitality is the ideal location to sample Glorious Sussex. The
following are just a few of the wonderful venues close at hand:
Glorious Goodwood is renowned for its horse racing and Mortor racing
and also golf on the Downland.
Arundel’s Norman Castle build in 1086 by Roger de Montgomery still
stands guard over the Arun Valley. it is the second largest castle after
Windsor Castle in the country. The town nestles between the river and
castle walls contains many narrow winding streets with interesting indi-
vidual shops. Arundel Catholic Cathedral also dominates the town and
often has organ recitals by renowned players on its wonderful organ.
Petworth with its National Trust House and grounds by Capability Brown
and Deer Park are only 4 miles away. Petworth town has many
interesting architectural features and is a renowned centre for quality
Antique shops in the country.
Midhurst is a short drive with Polo at Cowdary Park and the town has
many delightful shops to browse.
Chichester City & the Harbour is a designated area of outstanding
natural beauty. Popular with sailors, birdwatchers & walkers.
The South Downs Way is part of the Southdowns National Park and is a
few miles south of Bankywood with fantastic walks & views.
